My mom used to love to stop in antique shops. When I was a kid, I hated it. Okay, fine -- even as a teenager, I hated it. But I've recently started to have a bit of patience to weed through the junk and find something interesting. (It helps that there are more than a few vintage/antique furniture shops within a few blocks of my house.)

DSCN1524So on Sunday, I saddled up and strolled over to Sunday Antique Market at St. Lawrence Market. It was a bit smaller than I'd anticipated, but there was a lot of - uh - stuff there. It wasn't until I came across several pair of scissors that I remembered my mom's collection of sewing scissors that I have stashed away . . . and then I found a pair of Victorian sewing scissors to add to my mom's collection. I was very pleased with my purchase.

And then I came across the most adorable place -- just opened last week, Roxanne Reads is a new and used bookshop. They also accept donations, with the credit going toward a new purchase! You can't really see it from the storefront window, but the oversized couch, electric fireplace, and selection of teas and coffee are incredibly inviting, and when I went in for a browse, it was hard not to stay and put up my feet. Ah well, perhaps next weekend.
